Patrick O. Odoyo is a strategy, innovation, and community-impact leader with more than 10 years of professional leadership and more than 20 years of community engagement across the United States and Africa.
Roots and responsibility
Patrick was born and raised in Dago Kogelo Village in western Kenya. He learned early that access to education, healthcare, transportation, technology, and economic opportunity is shaped by systems—and that where formal systems fall short, families and communities often become their own infrastructure.
A scholarship enabled him to attend United States International University–Africa in Nairobi. The opportunity carried a simple expectation: help another young person access education. That commitment became central to his understanding of leadership and shared responsibility.
The village may be limited in money, but never in wisdom.
Learning to build
Patrick’s early community engagement included supporting education initiatives and helping organize a medical and sports program that connected health services, HIV awareness, community learning, and youth participation.
Before university, he also sourced and supplied fish to urban markets—learning firsthand how pricing, logistics, relationships, and distribution turn opportunity into value.
From classrooms to institutions
After moving to the United States, Patrick’s work expanded across secondary education, higher education, AmeriCorps programming, nonprofit leadership, organizational consulting, and social entrepreneurship.
Across his higher-education leadership from 2013 to 2019, collaborative work supported more than 150 student ventures and projects alongside faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Building continuity
Today, Patrick is Founder and Principal Consultant of Odoyo Consultancy, Founder and CEO of Young InnoPreneurs, and Founder and President of Friends of Dago. His recent program leadership includes serving as AmeriCorps Program Director at READ USA in 2024.
His purpose remains consistent: help people understand systems, build their capabilities, move ideas into action, and extend opportunity to others.
